THE Playhouse reopens for 2012 this week with a raft of new programs and activities to keep young minds active this summer but that's not the only thing that has had an overhaul.
The interior of the building has also been recently renovated giving The Playhouse a fresh, new and exciting look for the new year.
Devonport Community House manager Kate Beer said although some renovations had already been completed, 2012 would see continual upgrading of the facility.
"So far we've had a fresh coat of paint and some new furniture installed, '' she said.
"But 2012 will also see new signs painted onto the exterior facing the street.''
Ms Beer said the new signage would help to give The Playhouse a more branded look and upgrade the old walls.
Most of the renovations have been done to the interior of the building, completing the transformation into a kids' paradise.
"We've had some fantastic sliding doors put in, '' Ms Beer said.
"And a large shade sail is on its way to provide great outdoor playing while it's still warm.''
Other additions include large stars, and new colourful flags and posters, which cover the walls.
Ms Beer said The Playhouse had a fairly positive 2011, and finished the year with growing numbers, which is something the staff at the community house were keen to continue in 2012.
"We want to make sure more families will benefit from this wonderful space, '' Ms Beer said.
An upgraded program will fit alongside the renovations for The Playhouse in 2012 and include classes such as: craft corner, outside play, little gym, mini computer sessions and create your child's own story book.
The Playhouse is located in Forbes St, Devonport. For more information contact Kate Beer or Simon Douglas at the Devonport Community House on 6424 7060.
