HEARTBREAK and horses will be on the agenda this weekend when Turners Beach hosts the second annual Tasmanian Country Music Festival.
The festival, bolstered by the success of last year's inaugural event, is back for a second round and boasts some of the state's cream of country music talent.
Festival committee secretary Vonda Darui-Kemp said the festival had certainly grown since the first private event they held in 2010.
"We had a small night planned just for us, '' she said.
"And we just knew we could make it bigger and better.''
Mrs Darui-Kemp said organising this year's event had gone a lot easier, following the successful recipe template of 2011.
"We haven't had to reinvent any wheels this year, '' she said.
Although following the same format as last year, Mrs Darui-Kemp said there were some new features for the 2012 festival.
"We've got a lot of children's entertainment, '' she said.
Some of the fun for the kids includes facepainting, a jumping castle and Auskick sessions.
Mrs Darui-Kemp said country music was great because it provided easy listening and there was a big following on the Coast.
"There's just so many good artists who sing country music, '' she said.
And although country music is generally the province of the older generation, Mrs Darui-Kemp said even the younger generation could get a kick out of country music.
"I think they like it because they can understand it (the lyrics), '' she said.
"There's a misconception out there that country music is only for older people.''
Some of the artists performing at the festival include Gina Timms, Dave Hawkins, Anna Townsend and Vanessa Waara.
The Tasmanian Country Music Festival will be held on Saturday at the Turners Beach Recreation Ground from 10am until 6pm. Admission is $10 for adults and $20 for families. Children under 16 are free. No BYO alcohol but bar facilities will be available. For more information phone Vonda Darui-Kemp on 6432 6000.
